suena energy is a green tech startup specializing on energy trading software for Energy Storage Systems. The focus lies on maximizing profits and reducing risks on short-term electricity and balancing markets for grid-scale energy storage asset owners through our AI-based optimization and trading software. At suena, we're shaping the future of battery trading, optimizing energy storages to maximize value in dynamic power markets.

As a member of our Trading team, you will shape our trading strategies by developing and refining quantitative models, helping us maximize performance across different power markets. We expect you to maintain a regular presence in our Hamburg office, while also taking advantage of hybrid work options.

What you will be doing:
  • Conduct Quantitative Analysis
    • Analyze and optimize trading operations by utilizing Python and other data analysis tools
    • Analyze trading performance, power markets and assist in improving and testing new trading strategies and forecasts by identifying our strengths and weaknesses
  • Handle Trading Operations
    • Monitor market prices, grid conditions and our live trading results
    • React swiftly to any anomalies or disruptions, ensuring smooth and efficient trading operations and improving our automated reactions and alerts
    • Manage associated risks and ensuring we are equipped for all disaster scenarios
  • Develop and optimize Trading Strategies
    • Enhance trading processes and tools
    • Develop and refine quantitative models
    • Strategize, work on and finetune new trading strategies and improvements
    • Work closely with the quant trading team, data scientists and software developers, ensuring our strategies remain innovative in an evolving energy landscape
Requirements:
  • Robust analytical skillset - you love tackling analytical challenges using data and quantitative tools to uncover trading opportunities.
  • Strong strategic & logic thinking - you can think of new strategies and enjoy doing so
  • Deep understanding of power markets and trading ideally covering the full spectrum of pre- / during / and post-trade operations - at least 3 years of experience within the field of power trading
  • Trading knowledge and proven experience of developing and setting trade lifecycle processes, resolving obstacles, improving status quo i.e. via development of tools etc. (ideally, in trading renewables)
  • Ability to work under pressure/high stress situations - you’ve got a good level of resilience to stay focused and rational in such contexts and are able to quickly prioritize and act.
  • Attention to details and passion towards mathematics, trading and energy markets is in your DNA
  • Python or at least SQL knowledge is a strong plus, but can be remedied with more hands on trading experience
  • Fluent English and German proficiency
